Summer is Officially Over

In my day job I am a media and yearbook teacher in a middle school here in Hawaii. Hawaii starts their school year early and my first day back on the job was this past Tuesday, July 26th. Unfortunately for me that means less bike rides, definitely less traveling, and less time to work on new content. But if there is one thing that the pandemic taught me, it's to make sure to take time off for yourself. Work will always be there the next day and so I will just have to remind myself of that and be sure to leave work at an appropriate time. My friend John on Oahu made it a routine to always leave work no later than 4 pm each day. As teachers, it's easy to stay in school to correct work or plan for new lessons. Even though the school bell rings at 2 pm to end school for students, teachers will often stay at work longer because there is just so much work to do. By leaving by 4 pm, that can still give me enough time to jump on my bike or to work on it before dinner. My bike is what makes me happy and allows me to relax and I need to remember to take care of myself too! Go and get out and do something that you love today and take care of yourself!
